Usage and Compatibility

What materials can the gemstone-cutting blade cut?

ToAuto diamond saw blades can cut the vast majority of gemstones and hard materials with a Mohs hardness of 1–9:
- Cuts easily: Agate, chalcedony, jasper, crystal, quartz, tiger's eye, calcite, lapis lazuli, obsidian, Xiuyan jade.
- Also cuts: High-end gemstones such as jadeite (Feicui), Hetian jade, and corundum (ruby/sapphire).
- Not recommended for: Extra-large stone blocks (it is recommended to use a large slab saw for initial cutting before precision processing).

What is the cutting precision? What is the minimum cutting thickness?

The precision of the ToAuto cold-cutting saw stems from several key design features:
- 0.1mm spindle precision (spindle extension/rotor precision reaches 0.01mm): Minimizes saw blade wobble, ensuring a smooth, perpendicular cut surface.
- Thickened 304 stainless steel tabletop: 4mm thick, resistant to deformation and shifting.
- 160mm precision-engraved scale: Features a center-symmetrical scale design for accurate guidance, eliminating the need for repeated calibration.

What is the maximum cutting thickness/capacity?
Answer:
- G6 Pro (6-inch): Blade protrusion height of 33mm (approx. 1.3"), maximum cutting radius of 33–35mm.
- G8 Max (8-inch): Blade protrusion height of 60mm (approx. 2.36"), maximum cutting radius of 60mm.

If a precision fixture is installed, the effective cutting depth is reduced:
- G6 + fixture: Effective cutting depth <10mm (0.39")
- G8 + fixture: Effective cutting depth <20mm (0.79")

Can beginners use it? Is it difficult to operate?

It is feasible, and the operation is not difficult.

What kind of power supply is required? What is the voltage?

120V/60HZ; 230V/50Hz

Is an air compressor or water circulation system required?

No air compressor is needed.
ToAuto features a built-in gravity-fed liquid cooling system, so there is no need to connect to a tap. You simply fill the reservoir with water; once powered on, the system automatically circulates water to cool the blade.
The key advantage of the gravity-fed design is that it utilizes gravity and potential energy difference to prevent backflow, effectively eliminating the risk of coolant leakage caused by backflow at the source.

What is the difference between the smart cutting machine for gemstones and the one for metal? Which one should I buy?

The gemstone cutting machine is suitable for gemstones, minerals, and creative materials.
The metal cutting machine is suitable for high-performance alloys and metal projects, designed for creators and professionals alike.

Who is this gemstone cutting machine for? Can beginners use it?

It is suitable for home studios, creators, jewelry making, lapidary work, and small-scale metal projects. The ToAuto smart cutting machine is simple and easy to use, making it suitable for beginners.

Product Design and Technology

What kind of motor/spindle is used, and what is its power rating?

ToAuto currently uses a brushless motor. The radial runout accuracy of the spindle (the amount of lateral wobble during rotation) is 0.1 mm, while the precision of the extended rotor reaches 0.01 mm.
It features a rated power of 400 W, a maximum speed of 5,000 rpm, and a torque of 1.1 N·m.
This power configuration is specifically designed for precision cutting at the desktop level; it is not intended for aggressive, heavy-duty stock reduction, but rather for delivering stable, precise, and low-vibration power during fine cutting operations.
If you need to process large raw blocks exceeding ten centimeters in size, we recommend using a large slab saw for the initial rough cutting and the ToAuto unit for precision slicing.

What is the machine body made of? Is it stable?

The overall construction features a 304 stainless steel work surface, a galvanized steel body, and integrated injection-molded structural components.
It is very stable.

Key design features include:
- Machine weight: A net weight of 20 kg; the mass effectively dampens vibration.

- Thickened stainless steel work surface: 4mm-thick 304 stainless steel that resists deformation.

- Integrated injection-molded structural components: Internal structural parts are molded as single units, eliminating looseness associated with assembled joints.

- Compartmentalized structure: Separate compartments for the motor and the cutting mechanism prevent vibration interference between them.

- Gravity-feed container design: Enhances overall assembly precision.

How loud is the noise? Will it be noisy for home use?

The ToAuto smart cutting machine operates within a noise range of 40–60 dB; it is perfectly suitable for indoor use and is not noisy.

Are there safety features?

Yes. The ToAuto smart cutting machine is equipped with an emergency stop button, allowing for immediate shutdown when necessary.

Lapidary Wet Saw: Great Speed Control for Hard Rubies & Delicate Gems!

ToAuto 6" Wet Rock Saw is built purely for making clean, straight cuts through rough pieces, handling everything from soft opal to super hard raw rubies that hit a 9 on the Mohs scale. Different stones require different care, and that’s where the digital control screen really helps out. You can dial in the exact speed to match whatever you’re working on—slowing it down for delicate gems or adjusting for tough quartz and agate—so you don't ruin your raw material. The motor runs quiet and steady without shaking all over the workbench, giving you great control over every slice. It comes with all the tubing and side attachments to set up your clean water and drainage into separate buckets, which keeps dust out of the air and keeps the diamond blades from overheating. The splash guard keeps you dry while giving you a clear view of your line, and having everything included right out of the box makes slabbing down your raw stones so much easier.

Excellent trim saw, Precise speed control

The speed control is so responsive. I dropped from 3500 to 2000 RPM when switching between different stones, and the difference was immediate. Way better than old-school knob controls.

Probably could drop the price by 30% and I'd be happy

This is a very nice rock saw. I got this thinking it would cut tile. Since I'm about to redo my bathroom, it seemed like a great product. Super accurate, automatically controls its own water, variable speed motor.... it had all of the stuff all the high end tile saws have! And yet, this isn't really for that. It's to cut gemstones, geodes, and rocks. And it does a great job at those things, I might add. I cut three rocks from the backyard and it didn't even slow down. The water jet thing does make a bit of a mess, but I suppose that's to be expected. It's also fairly noisy, but again, that's to be expected when you're using metal to cut rock. The power cable is slightly shorter than I'd like, but maybe if I had a studio where I had this, I'd have special outlets everywhere. Assembly wasn't terribly difficult, though I had to read the directions a few times. The unit is quite heavy, so I'm assuming I won't be carrying this around town to cut rocks with friends all over. All in all, this is a really nice saw and I'm glad to have it. But the price seemed very steep to me. That's the only real negative I have about it. Otherwise, it really is a great tool.

It’s a feature rich machine that takes some getting used to, blade replacement issues, new brand.

Due to the cost of this item I figured a more in-depth review would be needed. I used the 8” Smart Lapidary Saw for two solid weeks cutting a mix of agate, jasper, quartz, a couple of small geodes, and some glass, and here’s my honest take.Pros:The adjustable speed (0–5000 RPM) with the LCD controller is genuinely useful. Being able to dial it down for brittle material or up for harder stone makes a real difference compared to fixed speed saws. The enclosed water system keeps the mess contained way better than open trim saws I’ve used, splash is minimal and cleanup is faster. The 1/2 HP motor has enough power for an 8” blade on most hobby sized rocks without bogging down when you feed steadily. The included diamond blade cut cleanly right out of the box, and the overall build feels more modern and controlled than basic entry level saws. For someone doing cabbing prep or smaller slabs at home, the combination of speed control and reduced mess is a nice step up.Cons:It’s still a desktop/trim saw, so depth of cut is limited (roughly 2–2.5 inches depending on the rock). Pushing larger pieces or trying to rush the cut can make the blade wander or the motor work harder than ideal. The smart controls and LCD are convenient, but the learning curve for finding the sweet spot RPM and feed rate takes a few sessions. Water management is better than open saws but not perfect; you still need to monitor the reservoir and clean the slurry regularly. At higher speeds the noise picks up, and long sessions require attention to keep everything running smoothly. Blade replacement options also appear limited right now since this came out of Kickstarter/early production; standard off-the-shelf 8” blades may not be a direct fit, so you’re more dependent on the manufacturer for spares. It’s not a production machine either, best for occasional to moderate use.Overall, after two weeks I’m happy with it for home lapidary work. It delivers good control and cleaner operation than cheaper alternatives, but it has the usual limitations of a compact 8” saw plus the early product constraints on parts availability. If you’re a beginner or hobbyist working with smaller specimens, it’s a solid, feature rich option. If you need to slab big rocks regularly or want easy access to replacement blades, you may want to wait or look at more established brands.

Promising First Impression With a Solid, Purpose Built Design

I have only given this 8 inch lapidary saw an initial inspection and brief try, but the first impression is positive. The machine feels reasonably substantial, and the enclosed design gives it a more complete, purpose built feel than a very basic open rock saw.The adjustable speed control is straightforward to use, and the LCD makes it easy to see the selected setting. The enclosed water system is also a practical feature for this type of cutting since it helps keep the working area more contained. The included diamond blade and overall setup make it feel ready for typical rock, geode, crystal, or glass cutting without needing a lot of additional pieces before getting started. I have not tested it enough to judge cutting speed, blade life, or performance on harder materials, but based on the construction and initial operation, it seems like a good machine so far.

Quick & Easy Drainage

Cleanup takes literally 30 seconds. Open the drain, rinse, done. After a long cutting session, I don't have to tip the whole machine over to get the water out.

Handles Hard Gemstones

Cut through Mohs 7 agate like it was butter. I was honestly surprised by how clean the cut came out. After cutting 15+ pieces in a row, there was no overheating. My old saw would shut down after 30 minutes.
